What is the WNY Eviction Prevention Project?

The Western New York Eviction Prevention Project (WNY-EPP) provides FREE eviction defense and advocacy to financially-eligible* persons facing homelessness because of eviction in Erie, Niagara, Wyoming, Orleans, and Genesee counties.

Services provided include:

Legal Advice: helping tenants facing eviction to better understand their rights and options

Eviction Prevention Help: intervening with the landlord or housing provider on the tenant’s behalf to try to resolve underlying issues before going to court, allowing the tenant to remain in their home

Eviction Representation: appearing with the tenants in court

Referrals: providing tenants with information about financial help and other services that may resolve the issues that led to potential eviction, in an effort to keep the tenant in their home
