Lamar's Story

Lamar's Story

When “Lamar” reached out over a $79,000 overpayment notice he’d received, our benefits advisors dug deep into the situation. Due to his nervous system condition, Lamar’s employer had been providing accommodations such as: extra time to complete tasks, allowing him to perform duties while seated, and help lifting merchandise – all of which may be considered part of a work subsidy!

After explaining the situation at his Expedited Reinstatement appointment, Social Security was able to verify the subsidy, bringing his countable income below the allowed limit, resulting in a reversal of the overpayment and full reinstatement of his benefits – with back pay!

Armed with tons of info about income guidelines, work incentives, and subsidies, Lamar is now fully equipped to balance his work and benefits without risk of losing them again.
