Benefits Alert – Real ID

Beginning May 7th, 2025, a Real ID will be required to board a domestic flight or to enter many federal buildings. You will no longer be able to use a standard driver’s license or non-driver ID; however, you CAN use an enhanced license or passport, if you have one.

Did you know?

You may be eligible for a reduced fee or no fee non-driver ID if you are 62 or older and you receive supplemental security income, or if you are any age and receive public assistance, SNAP, or medical assistance.

Bring proof of your benefits with you to the DMV when you apply for your Real ID, or include photocopies to apply by mail.

This proof can be:
Client Notice System (CNS) notice that states benefits are “approved,” “recertified,” “changed,” or “same amount” with your name, case number, and effective date.
Welfare Management System (WMS) Budget Screen printout with the case name, number, and effective date and Common Benefit Identification Card (CBIC/Welfare Card) with your name. The CBIC/Welfare Card may or may not include a picture
Budget Letter with your name, number, and effective date. You must contact the Department of Social Services for your county to obtain this letter.
